Canyon Neuron:ONFly Review | Compromised To Undercut The Competition?
Просмотров 10 тыс.День назад
The news feeds have been full of new lightweight e-bike launches recently, and we've been guilty of getting carried along by the hype, losing sight of the fact that many of these models are demanding serious coin. So when Canyon introduced the Neuron:ONFly CF7 recently, with a Carbon frame, Bosch SX motor, and sub-£5k price tag, we knew we had to swing a leg over it and see whether it was a bar...

Bosch Fontus, better option.
Would you go for the Kenevo Expert SL gen 1 for 5k, or Kenevo Comp Sl Gen 2 for 5.5 k?
Where’s the radon render
Radon doesn’t sell in the UK anymore
@@MBRmagazine ah ok
i got a haibike alltrail 4 on discount price for 1999euro it is an older model 2023 but still a brand new bike and it does a great job!
There's a lot of people having problems with that new Polygon
Battery problems?
If they want eMTB to flourish, make them affordable first.. it’s not about an arms race of who’s the one that can make the most expensive bike but this is about the community, cheers to these companies that do this..
I have been doing this for years at the trail.
how tall are you guys?
178cm and 180cm 👍
Yamaha didnt just come in, they were one of the early pioneers of ebikes.
fun fact bosh 750whr battery is more like 36x20.1=723.6Whr battery and that's rated number, real life is less than that
Boring
So is your pfp 💀🙏
Love it
I’ve a 2021 Giant stance e+ 3pro. Massively different spec than the one shown here - o rings yes, Shimano 4 pot brakes 10-51 12 speed gearing - the one reviewed is nothing like what you can get on an “affordable “ electric Stance
Funny that! Compare a different model of bike from a different model year and it’s not the same! 🤷♂️
I took the time to test Moro07 and it is great bike. I spent a few hours on the bike to realise the difference between a good bike and an affordable. Yamaha Moro 07 I’d just streets ahead of the other bike I looked at and for the price I paid it was a no brainer. I have taken the bike to bits and lubricated all three moving parts ( out the factory it’s dry) removed all the cables and re routed them, ( the motor harness and speed sensor harness is too long and this was interfering with the dropper post operation. I have also changed to run a 29er up front and I honestly say I night and day difference in the ride handling and the speed it carries is incredible. The balance and the weight shift to the back of the bike just makes it feel so agile. Down side of this bike ( for me battery size and weight) 500 watts and4.8 kg. For the battery so to carry a second in a back pack is difficult for long days out. I managed to 68 miles on one battery I’m 69kg fully loaded with kit. My girlfriend has the same bike as well and uses every day for work and leisure activities at the weekend she has clocked up 750+miles in just a few months and the only maintenance is chain cleaning and lubricants. As far as I know they have sold out of the bikes in the uk for a few months but that might’ve changed since but if you are near a Yamaha bike dealer / showroom and you want to get an e-bike get down there and get a test ride on one,
Great insight. Thanks for the comment and glad you’re enjoying the bike 👍
Opus clip
I reakon the yamaha would have to be a fun bike with the 27.5 and lower weight I seen 1 on the trail here few weeks ago looked good too Also in Oz yamaha does 1% finance
Well done for bringing out a review on well specced, full suss e-mtb’s which ordinary people can actually afford. The great thing about all of these bikes is the fact that they can all be upgraded with a better component set, at the discretion of the end user. Got to tip my hat off to Decathlon bringing to market a full phat, e-MTB for £3k or less.
Thanks! Decathlon has an even cheaper version of that bike with a bit less power that’s currently on sale for just £2,300 as well! 🤯
This is amateur bike, and should be driven like amateurs do. What's the point of that jumping?? It's like F1 driver testing fiat panda full power, simply stupid.
Great video. Now please do a round up of emtb hardtails that are under 2500. Radon, Cube, Ghost, canyon, mondraker. They all have great e hardtails but nobody does reviews on them
We’re not big fans of ebike hardtails for proper mountain biking. They’re fine for fire roads and dirt tracks, but too cumbersome and uncomfortable on anything more serious. Decathlon actually has a cheaper version of the E-Expl for around £2.5k which looks decent.
Well done for reviewing bikes that ordinary people can afford.
Cheers!
Now what would it take to turn the Rockrider from a good bike to a great bike? I’d start with the brakes and tyres.
There needs to be more videos like this. It just opens the door to most people who are considering getting an ebke. I would love to see a round-up of the entry level bikes
The fact that £4,000 is entry level for electric bicycles is ridiculous. It's the reason I bought a motorcycle instead of an ebike, way more for the money. They are also only discussing RRP, you can get most ebikes for way less than RRP because they start overpriced.
I payed £2500 for a cube stereo hpc 750 brand new . Better value by a mile than all these bikes. Shimano deore, magura mt thirty, Shimano domain 160 , carbon Frame......
Great deal! I’m guessing it was on sale though?
@@MBRmagazine yes. That's the top tip for getting a good bike within the budget price region. Look for the sales.
The test winning bike was great with the exception of two major issues on a brand new bike.... ok
Both were fixed 👍
That Yamaha's cables make me feel uneasy. Great review though.
Ha! Fair enough! Thanks though.
Good stuff guys! My critique of all of your reviews would be to always mention if a bike doesn't have headset cable routing and highlight that as a huge feature and vice versa to bikes that have it and loudly call them out for it.... the larger MTB media like yourselves needs to help get the message out to the incompetent frame designers out there so this ridiculous kool fad disappears on their next frame release. We consumers can speak with our wallet to drive it home.
Good point! We also hate headset routed cables. Fortunately only the Giant has them in this test. 👍
Great vid - good to see some cheaper emtb getting some coverage . Not a lot of people can afford or justify £5k plus bikes . Where are those trials - nice shaped berm !
Thanks! Trails are BikePark Wales, Surrey Hills, and Forest of Dean area.
Good video
Let's see if that Bosch motor is still working in 3 years time...
Are the motors any more reliable though?
Nope, and still loud as hell...
No. Bosch only sells you marketing and its brand name, not quality products. The battery’s are the worst and degrade a-lot and its extremely expensive to replace since they only allow there own batteries.
I have a 2019 capra 27.5 which was 180 travel. Really wish the shock had a lock out. Those wings were on both sides on my frame with no water bottle option. I also out a DD casing on the rear cause it came with exo casing tires..... but i got mine as a leftover xxl frame right before they updated the bike for $2300. Amazing value for what you get
SL .. best of both worlds
What is that the stock rear hub?
I take the Orbea RISE H20 over that
What does the spacer actually do?
Way too soft, or he way too strong
we let the air out of the shocks to make it easy to cycle the suspension.
@@MBRmagazine oh right love your content btw !
Thanks!
Wow, great review had my eye on a sender for a while ,
Thanks!
450watt*(60s/min)*(1rev/(2*pi rad)/(60nm) = 71.6rpm The fazua becomes power limited in boost setting at 71.6rpm The Bosch is at 104rpm, but it makes more torque than the other motors 78.13rpm If you are above 78.13rpm the Bosch will always make more torque than the other motors including the fazua in boost
That makes sense. The problem is keeping a cadence of nearly 80rpm on a steep and/or technical climb.
how tall is the rider?
180cm 👍
It doesn't say in this short video how much it is? Nor in the description. How much is it?
It’s £4,649.
But how much is it? It’s amazing how years ago anyone could be a mountain biker now you have to be rich unless you buy second hand.
You can still get a perfectly good hardtail mountain bike from about £600.
@@MBRmagazine but this video isn’t about a hardtail. And how much does this bike retail for?
@@MBRmagazine and just incase you don’t know to the working class £600 is a heck of a lot money and most don’t have that.
So in every video we have to make the point there are also cheaper bikes available?
The price is mentioned several times in the video and it’s in the description.
However, I do feel that a firm handshake and good solid eye contact between you both will really make the moment before you drop in.
You guys finally got your hands on some BBC archive FX hardware, that 'Rentaghost' bike arrival was superb.
😂
Looks awesome ngl
Which direct mount stem are you using?
No This is the Torque Mullet Al 5 I have the same one 😊😊😊
Love riding in Switzerland, but cannot afford it unfortunately. Spent in 1 week in Verbier, what I would spent in 3 weeks in Morzine. Riding great, but unaffordable for most unfortunately 😕
Definitely expensive, but if you stay one night you get an Explorer card which gets you free or discounted lift passes, which helps reduce some of the costs.
As a 6'7" rider, would you recommend the XXL frame Capra in an MX or 29? Does the "playfulness" of the MX still translate to an XXL size frame? My current bike is an XXL 29" HT, my previous bike was an XL 27.5 HT. Not looking to do anything extreme, but i want to ride a little more aggressive and take all of the side hits I dodge on my hardtails. Thank you.
It’s nice but it’s not an eMTB
👍Soo true, everything in moderation 👏
